How to prepare your files
- Upload your photo or signature. JPG, PNG and WebP work in modern browsers; other formats depend on browser support.
- Choose the preset required by your application portal. The original site presets remain available.
- Use zoom and position to frame the photo. Signature mode fits the complete image on white by default.
- Check the preview and actual file size, then download the JPEG.
Choose the correct application requirements
Requirements vary by submission route. Protean’s photo/signature guide lists 200 DPI, 2.5 × 3.5 cm photo and 4.5 × 2 cm signature with a 50 KB maximum. The DSC submission instructions specify smaller limits: 20 KB photo and 10 KB signature. Preset pixel dimensions are rounded from these physical dimensions.
The original site preset (213 × 213 photo at 300 DPI; 400 × 200 signature at 600 DPI) is retained for your existing workflow. It is not a verified universal UTI requirement. Check the receiving portal and use custom settings when needed.
Quality and privacy
Images keep their proportions and are exported as JPEG on white. Compression chooses the highest tested quality that fits your chosen limit without silently reducing pixel dimensions. Very small limits can reduce detail; if the limit cannot be met, the tool explains what to change. Output JPEGs contain DPI metadata and do not copy original camera metadata. Pixel dimensions remain the same regardless of DPI.
A small source image cannot gain real detail by enlargement. Check that the face and signature are readable before submitting.
